An opportunity to see a part of Ken’s large collection.
Village Square 1985
This photograph was taken in 1985. On the low wall enclosing the tree and the Stocks there is a stone bearing the following inscription : This Tree was planted by the Caverswall Parish Council on the 9th of March 1935 to replace the old Constable Wick tree which was planted on or about the year AD 1620. This creates a little puzzle for us today because there is no such species of tree. The wording may well be a reference to the Constablewick of Caverswall i.e. the area under the control of the village constable.
