Comments: I wonder if you can help - I have been told my great-grandfather James Corcoran (married to Eliza - formerly Hill) has been buried in an unmarked plot at Caverswall Church. The year would be approximately 1950 the year my mother was born. I remember visiting there when I was quite young and my mother had a rough idea of where the plot was. I am trying to trace some of my family background as is my second cousin Tim Corcoran who has I believed restricted his search to my great grandfathers family. I thought this may be a good place to start until I can review the 1901 Census. Could you help - I travel often in my employment and no longer live in the area - I would like the opportunity to perhaps lay a few flowers, but have no idea if I will be in the right place. If this is not the case do you have any suggestions on where I start? Best Regards Danielle

Comments: I have enjoyed this website and the local history I can find on the Internet. My GG Grandparents were married at the Parish Church in the parish of Caverswall in 1870. I do not know if this was located in the villiage of Caverswall or in the surrounding area. The couple was John Evans and Jane Goodwin. John's parents were Evan Evans and Ellen Thomas. Jane's parents were William Goodwin and Mary Jane 'Unknown'. The residence of John and Jane at the time of the marriage was listed as East vale.

Comments: My dad, Tom Marsh, lived in the village of Caverswall and I think he was born there, he was one of ten children in the Marsh family and lived in Long Row, a two up two down cottage with an outside loo and wash-house. Unfortunately my father died in 1971 aged 45 when I was only 11. He was one of the ten children of Hannah and Frederick (I think) Marsh. There are only two surviving, Vera (now McCracken) and Mabel (now Sedgwick). It would be nice to speak to anyone who new my dad when he was younger and living in Caverswall.

Comments: Trying to trace family tree. Grandad William Wild was born 22/11/1894 he was married to Anna (Nee Scott) His father was also William Wild and his wife was Ann or Anni (Nee Parker) Birth Certificate shows address to be Mear Lane Caverswall but we can't find that on any map. We are also aware there was a Wild family in the Parish in 1881 in Dividy Lane and are not sure whether there is a connection.

Comments: Hi I am researching Thomas Bentley of Hulme born 1743 died 1822 whose tomb is in St Peters churchyard. The name Bentley seems to crop up fairly regularly and I would be grateful for any information. I have what purports to be an acurate family tree from this time and hope to start tracing forward in the future. I would be very interested in any information
