Comments: I am trying to find details of my maternal Great Grandfather's family. He is Thomas Dennis who was born in East Vale, Stafford and was residing with his wife Rosannah and their son John in 11 Melbourne St. Caverswall, Stafford in the 1881 Census. Their younger daughter Emily was my grand mother. They also had a son called Enoch, who was killed in WW1.

Comments: I am researching my ancestors My maternal grandmother Elizabeth Hulse (daughter of Joseph and Annie Hulse, nee Bradbury) was born in Dividy Lane, Caverswall, So far, I am looking for information on George Hulse married to Hannah Ridge, and William Bradbury married to Ann Bassington both couples probably married around 1855. Does Dividy Lane still exist? I was thrilled to find such a brilliant site on Caverswall! Sue Embury

Comments: Hi ! I am really enjoying researching through these sites! In my searching my family surname "Coyne" I was sent off to a Birmingham site, which led me to the Coyney. I would like to find out if, in fact, these "Coyney's" (descendants)ever settled in Ireland -- which is where my gggrandfather, Thomas Coyne, came from. Does anyone have any info regarding such? (I had read awhile back another researcher saying that the "Coyne's" came from England . . . I would love to hear from any other Coyne (or Coyne-connected) families! Sincerely, Darcy (Coyne) DeRosia

Comments: Researching BOUGHEY (Longton & Caverswall) & LOCKER (Kingsley) My 2xgrt grandfather George BOUGHEY married Hannah LOCKER (daughter of Samuel LOCKER,formerly of Kingsley)George was a miner @ Longton & later a shopkeeper at Caverswall(Meir Lane)I think he was a baker. George & Hannah had a son George in 1852. George(Junior)worked as a china gilder.I think he both worked in Stoke & in Coalport,Shropshire. He married Caroline ASTON(b Feb 29th 1856)at Caverswall. The vicar was Rev Bennett BLAKEWAY (I am Secretary of the BLAKEWAY Society).Anyway George & Caroline had a daughter Clara Elizabeth BOUGHEY(my grandmother) in 1876. She was born at Meir Lane.By the 1881 Census they are living in Madeley,Shropshire & have a son George,a few years younger than Clara. Any connections please get in touch. I saw that there were some multiple entries on the IGI for George & Caroline's wedding which leads me to suspect they have been put in by descendants. Also any BLAKEWAY connections anywhere please get in touch. Thank You, Olwen Britton.

Comments: What a delightful site. I have to admit I had never heard of Caverswall, although I lived in England for 34 years. What a pity I missed it. I spent 5 years in Caversham, Reading - close, but no coconut.

Comments: Hi Steve I lived close to Caverswall when I was a young girl growing up in the Meir. We used to paddle in the stream (as we called it) and we loved every minute of it but I was always afraid of the Castle it was so dark and eerie behind all those trees.I would love to see a proper picture of it as I still get the creeps when I think about it. You have done a brilliant job with this site, keep up the good work.I am researching Collier,Beardmore,Bateman,Lockett,Hamnett and North surnames.
