went to st gregory roman catholic school longton
left in 1964.

Just discovered my gggrandfather Elijah FYNNEY born 1818 and
ggggrandmother Amelia FYNNEY born 1773 from your 1851 census
search. They changed their surname to FINNEY in the 1860's.
Elijah married a Sarah BATKIN and one of their sons, Thomas FINNEY
was a Police Constable for 25 years around Staffordshire dying in 1926.
I believe relatives of Walter FINNEY, Thomas' nephew are living in NZ as well.

Would love to hear from any related Finney's

I wrote a really long interesting speel for the website and somehow managed to loose it,fraid i cant be bothered to write it all again.Well;my final address in caverswall was no.3 church house(arrived in 1971ish) which is the largest end terrace of three the other two were looking at st.peters church,and ours was facing towards blythe-bridge.Ozzie Mcphearson use and may still farm behind us,though he would be very very old by now(sorry Ozzie).A good mate of mine was Phil Hinks who used to live at the top of the High st.,way past that lovely spring,in a rather posh bungalow, i dont think his parents were too keen on me!!Ileft Caverswall in 1975 to join the Royal Marines. I now live in Taunton,Somerset with my family.Ok so i did go on a bit afterall,nice web site i now must go and have a good look around..

Hi, I was born at 7, long row Coockshill and lived there till i was 10. it was a 2 up and2 down cottage. My grandmother hannah marsh nee pickin and Grandfather Albert marsh lived at 6 long row and me and my sister used to go to sleep at her house every night due to not enough room at number 7. then went to live on the coalville estate.
I used to deliver papers to the castle when the nuns lived there.Also the fox brothers delivered papers on the horse and cart.We used to go to the old vickerage to play with the yates bothers Jonathan and Gerrimy and Vicar Yates bought out milk and biscuits dead on 11 oclock every.I attended Caverswall school and at sometime we had to get on a bus and go to box lane meir near the meir church for our lessons as the school did not have enough class rooms. I have fond memories off the Teachers A Mr Lovatt and a lady teacher who I can`t remmember her name who used to give us Dolly mixtures as a reward for being good.

Greetings from Margaret and Emma Boden Heaume in Guernsey. We have happy memories of Caverswall village especially during the period May 2001 to Sept 2002 when Emma attended St Peters School.
