What a very interesting site! I have just joined the forum section and really enjoyed having a look around at everything else on offer. I was particularly intrigued to find my family surname interest mentioned in the Hearth Tax for 1666. Thomas IBBS. He was exempted from payment along with quite a few others and I wondered why that was. Perhaps it was a perk of the job he did or he lived in a very lowly abode. Perhaps one of his descendents was among the group that travelled by barge in 1796 down the Trent/Mersey ca*** to be founder members of the Herculanian Pottery on the banks of the river Mersey, Liverpool Lancashire. My Great Great Grandfather was H.I. Thomas IBBS a potter. His Father was Isaac IBBS one of the ca*** travellers. I'm hoping to make contact with any other IBBS who may have a connection. Margaret in Australia.

I am researching my family history. John leese was born in Caverswall in 1832 / 1856 ( source 1881 british census). He later moved to Longton and later Harewood Hall near Cheadle.
He married Hannah Mear in 1856. their children were Alfred, Adeline, Clifford, Luceretta, Ernest, Gerge and Edgar. I would love to hear from any descendents of the Leese family or Mear family as I have numerous very good quality photographs . Most are taken in Longton and Chaedle late 1800s/early 1900s? Unfortunately I don't know who many of them are and I am hoping someone out there may have copies and be able to identify them. Any help appreciated.
