Comments: I am researching the Edwards family of Caverswall. Richard Edwards, born 1791-1801, married Sarah Hulme. They had a son Elijah. Elijah married Maria (Mary) Elkin. Walker is a major surname in this family. Some of the Walker and Edwards family emigrated to the U.S. around 1880.

Comments: My family history searching into the Bull family has thrown up extra census entries for the Bulls of Caverswall who were blacksmiths, William snr was almost certainly from Upper Cotton and a brother of my G grandfather, I'd first spotted them when looking up Caverswall as the place my G grandfather married for the second time would anyone like the info I have?
Best wishes,
Elvie Herd

Comments: Hello Steve, what a great website, lots of good photos of CaversWall, my mum's family is buried in caverswall cemetery her parents, aunt and grandparents, also my uncle eric and my aunt.
I havent been up there for years as i have moved all the way over to Grantham, My parents live in Nottingham, they go up there every so often, but i dont because me and my boyfriend travel about in our selfbuilt motorhome.
I used to like going to Caverswall because it's a nice little village,
My mum's Brother and sisters family's still live in stafford, but i'm not sure if they go and tend the graves?
when i used to go up there with my parents, they used to walk around to my grandparents grave and sort out the flowers, while i used to sit on my aunty monica's graveside and talk to her as if she was really there, but i'm sure she was listening to me up there.

Comments: I was born and brought up in Weston Coyney. Left there in mid-1960s for Edinburgh. Still living in a village near Edinburgh. I searched your visitors' book to see if any of my childhood friends were mentioned; but no luck. I have some photos of Weston Coyney and Caverswall from the 1960s. Having set up my current village web site I'm keen to plagiarsie good ideas from yours!

Comments: I have a copy of a will dated 1806 of William Burgess of Audley which refers to land and premises situate at Mossfields in the parish of Caverswall lately purchased by him and James Poole from William Wilding. Can anyone help with this. I note that there were several Burgess families in the area about that time. Two of which refer to connections with Dimsdale (Wolstanton) and Chapel Chorlton. Both of which border on Audley. Any information would be appreciated.

Comments: A very interesting website. My grandfather, Harry Boughey, was born in Caverswall, one of 12 children His father worked at a pottery, They moved to Derby in the late 19thc. where worked at Royal Crown Derby. My grandfather imigrated to the US in 1905. I know they were active Methodists, probably in the Wesleyan Chapel. We visited Caverswall briefly 3 yrs. ago. A lovely village! The family legend is that a deBoughey came over from France probably in the 15th c. If anyone has any knowledge of the family name, I would love to hear from you.
